New Spring of Rural Rejuvenation at Foot of Mt Pyongphung
Yodok County is surrounded by mountains on all sides including Mt Pyongphung which is １ ５００ meters above the sea.
The county has been face-lifted in recent years.
New rural houses have been built splendidly; small hydroelectric power stations in different parts of the county produce plenty of electricity; the county seat has been renovated in a few years. ..
Rimphyong-ri, which is scores of miles away from the township, is a remote mountainy region.
But, the visitors can enjoy the beauties of nature as well as picturesque scenery of ri in which modern terraced houses and low-storied houses have been built.
Thanks to the wise leadership of the Party which intends to transform all the farms into the socialist paradises good to work and live in, happy laughter of moving into new dwelling houses and a farmer’s song enjoying the blessings of peace and good harvest are being resounded in the remote mountainy village.

An old man boasted that his four children had received new dwelling houses on the same day; a young farmer became a student enrolled in the study-while-working system last year; a housewife cooked various dishes with wheat harvested by her own hands; a couple farmers sent to their son who is in military service a letter with pictures of new dwelling houses some days ago. ..
An official of the ri expressed his impression:
"We, ordinary farmers, live in such splendid dwelling houses. How good the times is!"
Now, the county produces various kinds of finishing building materials and has over ten small hydraulic power stations to produce electricity even in the drought season.
