Sika Deer at Paekam, Living Monument

There are high mountains and the Sodu Stream and its tributaries in the area more than 1 600m above the sea of the Paektu Plateaus in the east slope of the Paektu Range. This area is favorable for deer to inhabit.

A lot of deer live in the wet grassy plain and forest in the area of Paekam.

They eat grasses, tree leaves, soft buds, barks, mosses, mushrooms, etc. and in summer they go to the salty place.

There they move in groups of four or six along the open grass lands.
