Living Monument in Mansok-ri, Ongjin County

There are a lot of precious and beautiful living monuments in the DPRK.

Among them is the Ongjin Chionanthus retusa growing in the township of Mansok-ri, Ongjin County.

This tree was planted in around 1880. Its height is 6.5m, its root neck girth 2.4m, width of crown 13m and girth of the crown 46m.

This is a broadleaf tree and its flowers are very beautiful.

The Ongjin Chionanthus retusa is an old tree with peculiar shape adding beauty to the surrounding landscape. It is significant for research on the ecologic characters.
